HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THAT COMPOSITION YOU CRAZY PEROSN?

As an abstract artist, one of the most frequent questions that I get is about how I come up with the composition in my paintings. That, and “is that a mutant cat/chicken lurking in the background?"
To answer the second question, yes, it probably is.
When I stand before a blank canvas, I ask the gods to help me welcome the unknown, embrace the unexpected, and dance with the surprises that the cranky genie, Sanba, has in store for me. It's a battle against the cacophony of voices within that dictate conventional norms of color harmony and compositional balance. I could spend my time painstakingly rendering reality…but, I’m not interested in more reality.
I want to tap into something else, an energy that vibrates just below the surface, the unconscious flow that moves my brush around and mixes colors without restraint. I want to be free and feel alive. Let the joy that lives in my heart be the mastermind, the creator, the genie.
